Celebrating 10 years of partnership, helping babies get a healthy start in life

The year 2015 marked the 10th anniversary of the March of Dimes National Ambassador program and of our partnership with the organization. To celebrate the milestone, our employees, customers and business partners helped to raise more than $3 million to help ensure that all babies get a healthy start.

The March of Dimes National Ambassador Program

Elijah Jackson and his parents Elise and Todd

The March of Dimes National Ambassador Program is one of the most visible representatives of the organization. The National Ambassador and their family travel the country (on United!) throughout the year to share their story and encourage families and companies to join the campaign to ensure that all babies get a healthy start in life.

We were so proud that the 2015 National Ambassador was one of our own. Elijah Jackson, son of United Reservations Quality Assurance Analyst Elise Jackson, was selected to serve as the National Ambassador and spent much of the year in the air, traveling the country and sharing his story.

The Jacksons have been involved with the March of Dimes since 2005 and personally raised more than $30,000 for the cause. Grateful for the help and support the March of Dimes provided when Elijah was born, Elise and her husband, Todd, were inspired to get involved and pay it forward.

United exceeds fundraising goal, nearly tripling it for a total of $3.1 million

Whether it was a bake sale, chili cook-off, a golf outing, dropping change in a baby bottle at the register of an airport vendor, purchasing a United Adventure Bear or buying a glass of wine at a United Club℠ location, our employees, customers and business partners helped raise more than $3 million.

Our campaign for the March of Dimes in 2015 exemplified the power of leadership and a commitment to the community. United leaders at all levels participated and supported the year-long fundraising effort that culminated with the 2015 March for Babies, where our co-workers walked more than 4,000 miles to support the mission of the organization.

Special delivery: March of Dimes livery aircraft joins our fleet

In the spring of 2015, we took delivery of a new aircraft that celebrates our 10 years of partnership with the March of Dimes in a big way. The Boeing 737-900ER (aircraft #848) was painted with a special March of Dimes livery and continues to fly domestically today.
