As one of the world’s largest airlines, United has a vast network with a massive number of moving parts. Our supply chain plays a critical role in enabling us to bring together friends, families and businesses to deliver the industry’s best customer service — safely. To meet the demands of our operational and business needs, we rely on a number of business partners. We acknowledge that their success is critical to our success.
We recognize the positive impact a strong supplier diversity program has on the communities around us, and our supplier diversity team ensures that women, minority, veteran, service disabled veterans, persons with disabilities and LGBT business enterprises have the opportunity to participate in our bid opportunities.
As part of our efforts to attract and work with more diverse companies, we have hosted a Supplier Diversity Program every two years since 2010. In May of 2018, we invited 90 prospective suppliers from multiple industries to our Corporate Support Center in Chicago to learn about business opportunities with United. “By having this type of forum, we break down the barriers,” says Community Affairs Vice President Sharon Grant, who leads our Supplier Diversity Program. “We can’t have a diverse supply chain unless we open up our doors so that diverse suppliers can learn about us.”
We are extremely proud to have been named one of America’s Top Corporations for Women’s Business Enterprises by the Women’s Business Enterprise National Council, the nation’s leader in women’s business development, for the seventh consecutive year.
